After a storm hits and you have damage, navigating through the process can be a nightmare for a homeowner that doesn’t know what questions to ask and what to say to the adjuster. Even knowing how to start a claim can be a confusing process if you’ve never done it before. So, when a storm blows through with high winds, hail, and heavy rain, what do you need to do and how does the process work? Let’s look at what you can expect when you have storm damage to your roof.

How do you know if you have damage?

If you are unable to get on your roof, or if you don’t know what to look for when it comes to damage to your roof you can look at what’s on the ground. Is there hail damage to your car, or outdoor AC unit? If so, your roof most likely has damage. However, it’s the amount of damage that matters when it comes to your insurance company and your roof. Farha Roofing will do a free inspection to assess any damage to your roof, as well as document what the damage is.

What happens after you find the damage?

Then you need to file an insurance claim. This can be different depending on what insurance company you use, and it’s one of the only parts of the process Farha can’t help with. When you file a claim you will need your policy number and date of the storm. If you’ve already contacted your insurance agency to inspect your roof, you can still contact Farha, and we’ll send one of our roofing experts out to work on your behalf and assist your claims adjuster/inspector.

What if the estimate is higher than the payout provided by the insurance company?

This is a common occurrence depending on what your insurance policy is. When we work with the insurance on your behalf, we do our best to make sure they cover the complete scope of work to ensure your home will be protected.

What if your claim is denied?

If your claim is denied, you can file an appeal with your insurance company. In this case most of the time an independent insurance adjuster will come out to check your roof and see if your insurance company was correct to deny your claim. If your claim is truly denied, Farha does have repair options available as well as financing options so your roof can still be repaired or replaced.

How long does the process take?

There are a lot of factors that go into this. If your insurance company is working on multiple claims in the area and adjusters aren’t available, the process could take longer. Typically it takes 30 to 60 days from the time the adjuster comes out to when you get your reimbursement check. Farha does our best to work quickly and efficiently to repair or replace your roof. It can take anywhere from a week or longer to completely replace a roof.

At Farha Roofing, we rise above the rest to provide top-notch service and craftsmanship when we replace or repair your roof.
