Ice Dam Removal Colorado

Ice Dam Removal in Durango, CO

An ice dam occurs when heavy snow buildup melts during the day and then refreezes at night. The more melting and refreezing, the worse the ice dam. If left untreated, ice dams can tear off your gutters, loosen shingles, cause water to back up under the shingles and drain into your home, or add a large amount of weight to your roof causing major damage.

Farha Roofing offers ice dam removal by steaming to remove ice dams before they cause damage to your roof or home. Ice dam steaming removes ice and snow by converting cold water into low-pressure steam. This is the quickest method to remove all of the ice without causing damage to the roofing materials.

Farha Roofing did an amazing job. The professional team ( project manager, production manager, and installation crew) were wonderful to work with. Working with Farha was seamless. All questions were carefully and professionally answered. Specifically, Justin (Project Manager) and Marty (Production Crew Manager) were nothing short of amazing. I had a great experience working with Chris Leeper at Farha Roofing. Chris was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely responsive throughout the entire process. He kept me updated, answered all of my questions, and made sure everything went smoothly from start to finish. The quality of the work was excellent, and Chris clearly takes pride in making sure his customers are taken care of. It’s refreshing to work with someone who communicates well, follows through, and does what he says he’s going to do. I would absolutely recommend Chris Leeper and Farha Roofing to anyone looking for a reliable and professional roofing company. Five stars all around!

Justin Petty, remember that name, Justin Perry. My dog got loose and he brought her back, I asked him if he would take a look at a loose/missing shingle to tell me what kind they are so I could replace it. Justin insisted on getting out his ladder, nailed the shingle back up caulked it in 100% heat and only would accept a cold sparking water for his efforts. If/when I need a roof, they will be the first one I call.

I was very impressed with Andrew Stroothoff and his customer service. He informed me step by step of the process and answered all my questions in an expedited manner. I have already recommended him to several people. The crew that did the roofing were efficient and cleaned up very well. Faha Roofing impressed me.

Beau Canova was able to schedule an appointment within a couple business days. He kept me informed about his arrival at my house and was very professional, once he was at the house. He gave me a very honest assessment of the roof damage, and explained the options. With that interaction, I certainly recommend Farha.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to determine if the roof needs repair or replacement?
The signs are out there; all you need to do is look out for them. Certain signs such as dark stains or water streaks are indicators of underlying issues. However, if you notice shards and broken shingles, it can be a sign of impending damage. Sometimes, you can make a safe assumption based on the age of your property’s roof even if there are no evident signs of damage. Yet, It is inadvisable to physically inspect the roof without any safety equipment on. So, it is better to arrange for detailed interior and exterior roof checks by our authorized professional contractors for an expert opinion.
How much will it cost to repair my roof?
When it comes to roof repair costs, there are a lot of variables that can affect the total cost. The major factors that affect the overall cost of repairing your roof are:

  1. The general condition of the roof
  2. Pitch or incline of the roof
  3. Shingles material type, i.e, wood, asphalt, tile, slate, etc.
  4. Number of shingles layers
  5. Cost of labor

While the material cost would be the same in all locations, the extent of damage and local labor charges make it important to get an estimate first. Schedule a roof inspection with us to receive a free estimate on your roof repairing costs.

Should I Replace the Shingles or the Entire Roofing System?
A roof is much more than a layer of shingles and underlying flashings. The decision to either replace the shingles or the entire roofing system depends on two major factors:

  1. Age of the roof
  2. Extent of damage

Both shingles replacement and roof replacement have their individual benefits

Replacing only the shingles is a cost-effective way to extend the lifespan of your roof without breaking the bank. Some of the benefits of shingles replacement are:

  • Keep the warranty in effect  Most roofing companies have a clause in their terms that holds the warranty void, if the property owner hasn’t periodically conducted roof maintenance.
  • Plugs any issue at the base. When you replace the shingles as soon as you observe the first signs of leaks, you eliminate the issue before it’s worsened.
  • Cost Effective. A few missing shingles can cause water to enter inside or cause the thermostat to work harder causing a spike in the utility bills. By replacing them in time allows you to save on unwanted expenses.

Replacing the entire system, on the other hand, is the best choice when you wish to enhance your roof’s performance:

Protect against Leaks. The new flashing and seals allow the new roof to block water to enter from any vulnerable areas on the roof.

New lifespan to your roof. Since you are completely replacing the roof, you extend the lifespan of it.

How long can I expect my commercial roof system to last?
On an average, a commercial roof can last from 10-40 years. The longevity depends on multiple factors such as:

  1. Weather conditions
  2. Material Used
  3. Roof Type
  4. Insulation
  5. Roof color
  6. Maintenance frequency
  7. Usage

The lifespan of different material roofs are:

  • Spray Polyurethane Foam: 30 – 50 Years
  • Single-Ply Membrane TPO: 15 – 20 Years
  • Single-Ply Membrane EPDM: 20 – 25 Years
  • Metal: 30 – 45 Years
  • Built-Up: 10 – 15 Years
Are Energy Efficient Roofs Available?
Yes. Green roofs or Energy Efficient Roofs are the latest trend in the roofing industry. By choosing energy-efficient roofing materials for your roof, you reduce the absorption of solar energy, thanks to the high degree of solar reflectance. Since most of the sun’s heat is reflected back, the energy efficient roofs can lower the surface temperature by as low as 50oF. This reduces the load on the air conditioning units and helps save upto 15%.
