VASA Fitness, a national health club concept, was founded in 1996. Since that time the health club chain has expanded to over 40 locations across the Western and Mid-Western United States. When the Wichita, Kansas Brittany Center location was in need of commercial roofing services, the Farha Roofing team was excited to be in the running to work with such a well-respected chain.
Farha Roofing was originally approached by the client thanks to network recommendations and the help of professional roofing consultants. On first assessment, it was clear to the Farha team that the roof was in disrepair and top of the line roofing services would be required. The Farha team was up for the job and after signatures were finalized, the team got to work.
The project got underway in the middle of winter, which Wichita residents know can be a difficult time to conduct roofing services thanks to the harsh winters. The Farha team knew however that replacing the roof was a priority to the property manager, Landmark Commercial Real Estate, and that despite the weather, the job needed to be completed sooner rather than later.
Thanks to the age related issues on the existing roof, a total roofing replacement was required. The first stage of the project required the Farha team to remove and replace layers of existing roofing section by section.
Once all of the existing layers of roofing were removed, it was time for the next phase of the required roofing service to begin, the new roofing installation. For this project, the Farha team installed two layers of two-inch polyiso with a mechanically attached 60 mil Versico TPO.
Polyisocyanurate foam panels — or polyiso as we refer to it above — is a thermoset plastic product produced as a foam and used as a rigid thermal insulation panel. Thermoplastic polyolefin — referred to as TPO above — is a highly reflective, heat/UV resistant roofing industry that is quickly becoming one of the biggest segments in the commercial roofing industry.
The polyiso was chosen to complete the roofing services because it is a good fit for Wichita’s climate. The two layers of two-inch polyiso would bring the roofs R-Value (the ability the material has to resist thermal movement through it) to 24, which is required in Wichita.
The 60-mil Versico TPO was chosen for a number of reasons. The highly reflective and heat/UV resistant nature of the material, of course make it an energy and cost efficient choice. In addition, Versico TPO is also extremely durable, giving it a healthy lifespan if properly maintained.
Despite having a big project to tackle, the Farha team was able to complete the roofing services on time and on budget. To the client’s satisfaction, the project was wrapped in three months, in the middle of winter!
