Lamar High School
Project Description
In the initial phases of the project bid, the Farha Roofing team were up against two competitors. Farha proposed to remove the entire roof system and install two layers of installation to get to an R-30, and install a fully tapered system for proper drainage, and a 1/2 inch Den's Deck cover board to acquire an impact-resistant rating. Ultimately, the Farha team was chosen based on their design, expertise and history of completing large projects with extremely demanding timelines.
Scope of Work
The original roof had been badly damaged by hailstorms, and a full tear-off and complete re-roof was required. The Farha commercial roofing team, along with the facilities director of the school, chose to install a single-ply membrane known as EPDM or “rubber roofing." A full taper system and a mile-and-a-half metal wall on the perimeters were also installed.
Challenge
One of the things that really made this project unique was its timeline. Usually, the Farha team starts projects like this in May, but due to unusually heavy rain that year, they were forced to hold off on starting the project until June. Once they were finally able to get started in mid-June, the Farha commercial roofing team worked hard to finish the project in just 45 days! The team sacrificed both sleep and personal time to get the job done, and everyone was extremely grateful when it was wrapped up in time for the new school year!
