Project Description

This project involved the complete roofing system installation at an active cement plant, a unique and demanding industrial environment. This facility's existing roof was buried under approximately three feet of cement debris due to nearby conveyor belt operations. The objective was to deliver a durable roofing system capable of withstanding the harsh environment of a working mine site. Given the location and operational conditions, this project required strict safety compliance, minimal disruption to ongoing plant operations, and a high-performance roofing solution. This effort marked the beginning of a strong partnership between Amrize (formerly Holcim) and Farha Roofing. Since then, we have completed dozens of inspections, repairs, and replacements for their facilities-building a relationship defined by safety, trust and proven performance.

Scope of Work

Our team began with the complete removal of the existing roof system, including three feet of cement debris, which involved manually breaking up and clearing all material, ensuring safe and environmentally compliant disposal. Once the surface was cleared, installation began with the application of a single layer of 2.6-inch Polyiso insulation R20, followed by a fully adhered 60 mil TPO membrane roofing system. New wall and penetration flashings were installed to ensure watertight integrity, while the roof's edges were finished with a 24-gauge baked metal drip edge, sealed with a 6-inch cover strip. Throughout the two-week project duration, the site was maintained to the highest standards of safety and cleanliness, with all crew members MSHAW certified and operating in compliance with OSHA and Avetta protocols.

Challenge

One of the most demanding challenges during this project was the removal of the roof's original surface, including a large amount of cement debris. Weather also posed a threat to this project, with intermittent rain requiring constant attention to ensure the system remained watertight during installation. The location itself also posed a challenge, as it was an active mine site with strict safety requirements. Our team worked under continuous OSHA oversight and conducted daily safety briefings to adhere to MSHAW, OSHA, and Avetta standards. The result is a durable, high-performance roofing system that fully protects Amrize's property.
